Description
This event, formerly known as the ELA Curriculum Fair, introduces participants to characteristics of effective ELA resources and provides opportunity for exploration of multiple curriculum options. This event includes the following activities:
1. Asynchronous review of an informational video related to preparing for ELA resource adoption. (This must be watched prior to attending the live event)
AND
2. Participation in a live face-to-face training and exploration of resources.
Activity 1: Pre-Recorded Informational Video
Participants will access a pre-recorded informational video that introduces them to a number of resources to prepare for ELA resource adoption. During the recording, participants will understand the new SoR legislation and access the NDSoR Curriculum Evaluation Guide. The recording will walk participants through each section of the guide.
- Section 1: Defining the Science of Reading
- Section 2: Leading and Making Curriculum Materials Decisions
- Section 3: Use of an Evaluation Tool
NOTE: Participants who register will receive the following resources:
- The Curriculum Evaluation Guide, Curriculum Audit Tool, and Curriculum Evaluation Guidelines.
Activity 2: Live Training and Exploration of Resources
Participants will examine different examples of curricular resources that align to each strand of Scarborough's Reading Rope, including fluency and writing. Then, participants will have an opportunity to showcase some of those materials.
We will discuss implementation considerations and then you will have the opportunity to see the following materials:
DELIVERY: This event is delivered over a combination of viewing an asynchronous pre-recorded video AND attending a 5-hour live training and resource exploration.
AUDIENCE: Curriculum Directors, Instructional Coaches, Principals, Elementary and Secondary ELA Teachers
