Description
PRE-REQUISITE: Participants must have completed LETRS Volume 1 (read textbook and complete online content and associated Bridge to Practice activities) in order to participate.
LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Volume 1 focuses on the Word Recognition strands of Scarborough's Reading Rope model: phonology, basic and advanced phonics, and screening educational and diagnostic assessment.
LETRS Volume 1 Facilitator Training:
- LETRS Volume 1 online course must be completed at least 4 weeks prior to the first day of training.
- Consists of four days (6 instructional hours each day)
- Some homework is required across the four training days.
The Role of a LETRS Facilitator:
The Facilitator is an individual with a deep understanding of the content and a commitment to become an expert in the research-based theories of LETRS. This individual will facilitate face-to-face workshops aligned to each unit, facilitate Professional Learning Communities, answer questions from participants, and review participants’ online data to determine if gaps in conceptual understanding exist that need to be addressed in a customized workshop.
Requirements to Become a LETRS Volume 1 Facilitator:
1. Read the textbook and complete the online content and associated Bridge to Practice activities for Volume 1
2. Attend 4 days of Unit training, with one full day (6 instructional hours) dedicated to each Unit in the Volume.
3. Pass the post-test with a score of 88% or better. If you score an 80–87%, a one-time exam retake may be requested.
